Membrane-switch material documents: matching part numbers and BOM coverage

Map restricted-substance declarations and test reports to the part revision and material entries under review. Distinguish supplier declarations, sample results and management-system certificates, and assess document coverage after changes without treating missing evidence as proven noncompliance.

When collecting restricted-substance documents for a membrane switch, start with the part under review and its current bill of materials (BOM). Check which requirement-list revision the customer specifies, which materials, grades and colours the documents cover, and whether they map to this supply. Supplier declarations, sample test reports and management-system certificates answer different questions. Record a coverage gap when the mapping is unresolved. Missing evidence does not establish material noncompliance, and receiving one report does not establish compliance of the complete product.

On 22 October 2026, Dongfeng's procurement platform published the G35 Belarus KD and G35 new HEV instrument-cluster development contract award notice (Chinese). The buyer is the R&D General Institute of Dongfeng Motor Group Co., Ltd. This is recent development-procurement information checked while drafting on 23 October. The notice does not disclose a BOM, restricted-substance documents or internal membrane components, and does not indicate that Baoshengda supplies the project.

When development procurement involves different projects or configurations, buyers can check whether their own material documents follow the relevant revisions. If their instrument or equipment uses a custom membrane switch, do documents issued for a product family cover the current printing materials and adhesive layer? The following review addresses that purchasing question. It makes no judgement about the reported project's construction or compliance status.

Trace the part under review to its material entries

Identify the supplied item, its drawing or part-number revision, and the customer's applicable requirements. If the customer requests RoHS or other restricted-substance documentation, its responsible compliance team should confirm the relevant market, requirement revision and assessment scope. Do not infer applicability from equipment use or an export destination alone. This article describes document mapping, not legal applicability or a compliance conclusion.

The public description of IEC 82474-1:2025 explains that material declarations exchange supply-chain information to help organisations assess products against material and substance requirements. Their basis can include engineering judgement, supplier declarations, and sampling and testing. Reviewers therefore need to identify the basis and covered item, rather than treat every document as the same kind of test result. This reference is to the public description; it does not claim a review of the full standard.

List each material in the BOM and put the document reference that covers it alongside the entry. The fields below are purchasing-review suggestions, not individual requirements quoted from the standard. They do not call for public disclosure of supplier formulations or a customer's complete BOM. For confidential information, the parties can agree on controlled access or redacted identifiers, while retaining a mapping that the reviewer can verify.

What to find in the BOMHow to map it to documentsWhat to resolve if the mapping is missing
Finished-part number and drawing revision under reviewThe document names the part, or a traceable product-to-material cross-reference connects themAsk the supplier to define the product scope; do not extend it to unlisted revisions
Actual grades of the face film and other materialsCheck the manufacturer, material identifier and covered scopeEstablish whether the difference is an abbreviation, family coverage or missing evidence for that grade
Printing materials and actual colours, where applicableCheck whether the declaration or report covers the grades and colour range usedDo not automatically extend results for one colour sample to every colour combination
The adhesive layer and other supplied materialsMatch the specific grade and declared item to the BOM entryAssess existing coverage before deciding whether another declaration or other evidence is needed
Document revisions and material-change recordsRelate issue dates, requirement revisions and material changesAssess the change; document age alone establishes neither expiry nor continued applicability

What a declaration and a test report can each support

A supplier material declaration should identify its issuer, subject, requirements used and scope. For a test report, return to the actual sample identifier, test items, methods and results, then check whether these correspond to the material under review and the current requirements. Page count, a laboratory's name or a product-family name on the cover cannot fill a gap in material mapping. A management-system certificate concerns an organisation and its registered scope; it is not a restricted-substance test result for these materials.

The public description of IEC 63000:2016 concerns technical documentation that a manufacturer compiles for applicable substance restrictions. The page also lists a consolidated version incorporating the 2022 amendment. This article uses that description only to distinguish the subject of a technical-document assessment from a particular sample report. It does not cite unread clauses or prescribe testing every material in every batch or a universal one-year report validity. Assess the evidence combination and any need for further testing against the actual requirements, existing coverage and changes.

An adhesive-grade change calls for a coverage review

Suppose a part under review changes from adhesive A to adhesive B, but its existing documents still refer to A. What is established is that B has not yet been mapped to the documents, not that B has been shown to be noncompliant. Retain the original files and their applicable earlier revision. Ask the supplier for B's material declaration and existing supporting evidence, then let the responsible project team assess whether the evidence is sufficient. Name the material entry and type of evidence missing so the supplier can determine what to provide. This is a hypothetical review situation, not a reported change at Baoshengda or another supplier.

After receiving the additional documents, record the reviewed item, requirement revision, corresponding files and remaining gaps. An issue date tells you when a document was created; it does not by itself tell you whether the material changed or the requirements were updated. If a material's coverage remains unresolved, leave the open item against that entry and state whether it affects the current purchasing decision. If the grade change also requires approval to use the substitute, see adhesive-substitution approval scope. A complete document mapping does not approve the change for the current lot or future BOM.

Agree document requirements within the supply scope

Shenzhen Baoshengda Technology Co., Ltd.'s public traceability guidance (Chinese) calls for batches, drawing revisions, BOMs, inspection, changes and retained samples to correspond to the current project. Its membrane-switch information (Chinese source) also starts with material, construction and project inputs; buyers can use the English membrane-switch page for product enquiries. Follow those product-revision references when specifying the material documents and mapping needed for this supply. These public pages do not establish that every Baoshengda product meets a particular restricted-substance requirement, or that third-party testing or full formulation disclosure is included in a quotation.

If the supply is only a graphic overlay or keypad overlay, review its actual surface-material scope. For an overlay with metal domes working with the customer's PCB, distinguish the supplier's components from the customer's PCB. One party's material documents cannot establish a conclusion for the complete assembly or equipment. The cover shows only the front and rear appearance of existing panel samples and their tails. It cannot identify the current BOM or prove material compliance.

For organisation and management-system checks, see checking a supplier certificate's scope (Chinese). For measured records supplied with a shipment, see batch inspection reports and shipment records (Chinese). When using the project contact page, provide the part revision under review, applicable requirements and material entries still lacking a document mapping. Agree which files accompany the quotation and which will follow after materials are confirmed.
