Changing membrane-switch suppliers: quoting from an old sample

With only an old sample, separate part investigation, missing-document development, sample manufacture and installed verification. Specify deliverables and configuration without assuming full reproduction.

When changing membrane-switch suppliers with only an old sample available, quote part identification, reconstruction of missing documentation, sample manufacture and installed verification as separate tasks. The old sample can be a starting point for investigating form and function, but it does not replace material, tolerance, interface or service-life requirements. Establish what information exists, what must be developed and who approves it before comparing quotations. Reproducing the appearance does not establish approval to replace the original part.

In its ecosystem-conference report published on October 31, 2026, CALB describes the October 29 event in Zaozhuang, where it presented solutions covering passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, energy storage and marine applications, alongside cooperation across several fields. This is a recent industry and supply-cooperation report, not evidence of membrane-switch procurement, second-source recruitment or supply by Baoshengda Technology.

If your own equipment project also needs alternative supply for different configurations, but only one installed or removed membrane switch remains, first establish which equipment, interface revision and condition it represents. A part that works in one configuration is not automatically a common reference for others. The following discussion concerns procurement under that condition, not the reported company's actual panels or sourcing arrangements.

Establish what the old sample represents

Give the old sample its own identifier. Record the source equipment, known part number or revision, previous use, existing damage and accompanying documents. Keep original design requirements, observed present condition and unknowns separate. Worn legends, distorted edges or failed keys should not become new-part requirements without assessment. Measuring a dimension on an old sample does not establish the original nominal dimension and tolerance.

Purchasing should first establish which outlines, key positions, windows and mating interfaces must remain unchanged, and which may be reassessed. Photographs alone do not confirm internal circuits, material grades or performance. If the sole reference sample must be delaminated, sampled or otherwise inspected in a way that could change it, agree on the permitted scope and retained records beforehand; do not assume it may be consumed.

Documentation work needs its own deliverables

An Epec membrane-switch reconstruction case describes a customer without the original engineering documentation: receiving an old part was followed by work to create manufacturing documents. Possession of a physical part and possession of production-ready information are different starting points. The case concerns Epec's stated project only. It does not establish that Baoshengda can reproduce any old part, or that PCB and complete-interface work is included in this quotation.

When complete drawings are unavailable, state what is commissioned separately for documentation, sample manufacture and verification. The table is a suggested procurement breakdown, not a standard fee schedule. Feasibility, work scope, file formats and charges require confirmation for the actual project.

Commissioned taskDeliverables to state in the quotationWhat it does not also establish
Old-part investigation and gap reviewObservations tied to the sample identifier, an inventory of existing documents, unknowns and proposed confirmation methodsA photograph or continuity result has recovered the original design
Development of missing product documentsDrawings, key or interface tables within the agreed scope, revisions, file formats and differences awaiting approvalThe new-sample unit price includes all documentation, source files or equipment-design work
Sample manufactureThe confirmed input set, quantity, tooling scope, sample identification and remaining differencesA manufactured sample is already approved for replacement, service life or production
Comparison and installed verificationWho supplies mating parts, conditions and acceptance criteria, result records and open itemsOne machine powering up covers every configuration and performance requirement

“Design included” is still too broad. Ask which files will be delivered, whether the work is solely for this sample round, which revision later production will reference, and how unidentified materials and interfaces will be addressed. If the required and offered documents differ, retain that difference in the quotation. Unconfirmed work is neither free by default nor already complete.

Retain the mating configuration when comparing old and new parts

Establish an accepted comparison requirement set for the project before arranging new-sample checks. For the multi-configuration alternative-supply scenario above, identify the model, housing, main board and interface revision separately. Common-use decisions need corresponding evidence; do not copy one configuration's fit-check result to another. The old part is a reference for comparison. New-sample measurements need their own identifiers, and the former supplier's results do not prove that the new part has passed.

Record appearance, installation, key mapping and electrical checks separately for the new sample. If proposed materials, construction or connectors differ from the original, list the known differences and their effect on verification scope before the project owner confirms acceptance requirements. Matching holes alone do not establish interchangeability. Where original service-life, cleaning or environmental requirements lack supporting records, define verification separately; do not infer guaranteed values from the old part having worked before.

Once a confirmation baseline exists, see drawing and reference-sample handover after approval (Chinese) for the production transition. When comparable inputs are available, use the membrane-switch quotation scope comparison (Chinese) to check costs. This article addresses what purchasing commissions and confirms before that common information exists. It does not replace equipment design or supplier qualification approval.

List existing information and gaps when contacting Baoshengda

Shenzhen Baoshengda Technology Co., Ltd.'s Chinese membrane-switch customization information asks replacement projects to identify outlines, key definitions and interfaces that cannot change. When information is incomplete, equipment use and sample photographs can start the discussion, followed by information affecting the proposal and quotation. This supports discussing gaps first; it does not promise arbitrary reverse engineering, PCB development, firmware reconstruction or reproduction of every original performance characteristic. The English product page provides localized information.

At the project contact page, list existing drawings, the old sample's identifier and photographs, equipment configuration, required mating conditions and missing information separately. State whether this round is for assessment, development of documentation or preparation for sampling. Place the order after confirming what can be delivered in this round. A graphic overlay or keypad overlay alone contains no switch circuit; an overlay with metal domes mating to a customer's PCB also requires the PCB and readout circuit to be listed separately.

The cover is an existing layered sample on this website, showing a window, icons, tails and release liner. It is neither an old part from the news company nor this reconstruction case. It does not establish material grades, an internal BOM or test results.
