When a membrane keypad may face forceful pressing or excessive travel, first mark the moving parts, guides, downward travel limit and return-retention features on an assembly section. Then review when the contacts operate relative to those limits. A retaining ring does not necessarily limit downward pressing, and a spring is not automatically a support for additional load. Record normal operation, further pressing within the agreed range, and return after unloading separately. A patent or a successful continuity check is insufficient to establish a maximum pressing force.
“Add a stop” on a drawing can mean different things to mechanical engineering, purchasing and inspection. One person may be limiting downward movement, another preventing a plate from springing out, and another simply adding guidance. Identify the constrained part and direction before deciding whether the feature addresses the project's pressing risk.
The two publications constrain different movements
CN213242349U, titled 一种耐压电子薄膜开关 (Chinese), was published as a granted utility model on 18 May 2021. Claims 5–6 and description paragraphs [0024]–[0026] describe stop block 13 attached to support frame 9 and block 14 attached to contact rod 11. Their engagement confines the rod's up-and-down movement, with second springs 12 at the engagement. Figures 1–2 show guide sleeve 8 and guide rods 17 separately from the stop assembly. This describes a specific structural relationship, not a universal pressing-load rating.
CN213242346U, titled 一种防短路薄膜开关 (Chinese), published on the same date, describes a different relationship in claim 6, paragraphs [0032]–[0036] and figure 4. Retaining ring 17 at the top of the key recess engages groove 18 in the press plate to prevent the plate from being pushed out during spring return. This alone does not establish control of downward overtravel. The document also describes the contact and separation sequence of the press plate, first contact blocks, contact plate and second contact blocks. It does not supply a ready-made sample approval for your project.
The front page of each original publication lists Shenzhen Baoshengda Technology Co., Ltd. as the patent proprietor. This article reviews those publications and drawings, not current legal status, and does not state that every currently supplied product uses these constructions. “耐压” in the first title is not evidence of a dielectric withstand test. “防短路” in the second is not a substitute for short-circuit, insulation or complete-equipment safety validation. Effects described in a patent still require validation under the actual project conditions.
Review the stop in your own assembly section
Do not simply add “stop block” to a parts list. Follow the actual assembly section from the enclosure, key plunger or press plate and supports through to the switch layers and PCB. Which parts move, which are fixed, and how are the fixed parts attached to the enclosure? If the design intends enclosure supports to carry further pressing load after contact operation, identify the engagement location and load path. Do not leave the film layers or contacts as an assumed load-bearing endpoint.
| Project drawing-review suggestions based on the two publications above, distinguishing travel constraint, guidance and return retention. These are neither patented-product specifications nor a universal test standard. The project must agree clearances, loads, methods and acceptance criteria. | ||
|---|---|---|
| Identify on the drawing | Answer in the sample review | Do not conclude from this alone |
| Downward-moving parts and fixed supports | Where engagement establishes the downward endpoint, and where further applied load is carried | A ring or groove already controls downward overtravel |
| Contact operation and stop positions | Whether normal operation completes, and whether endpoint relationships match the controlled assembly | One continuity check proves the contacts will not remain mechanically compressed |
| Return components and retention engagement | Whether parts return to the agreed position and remain within their guidance and retention range | A return-retention feature withstands any downward pressing force |
| Guidance and off-center pressing locations | Whether required changes in pressing location cause binding, interference or a different endpoint | Correct center pressing establishes acceptable edge pressing |
| Enclosure, supports and fastening state | Whether the same-revision assembly and tolerance combinations under review change the engagement sequence or load path | A loose part or temporary fixture represents final installation |
For example, a hypothetical design may place only a retaining ring above the press plate. That may address ejection during return but does not identify what stops downward pressing. Add the downward endpoint and support relationship to the review instead of recording “overtravel resolved” because a retaining ring appears on the drawing. This is a drawing-review example, not a Baoshengda-delivered equipment case.
Keep separate sample observations
Before testing, the project owner should define the sample revision, final assembly or representative support, pressing head and location, loading and unloading methods, evaluation range and stop conditions. Do not have several people repeatedly press harder by hand to find a supposed limit. Personnel responsible for testing should organize additional-load or destructive evaluation under controlled conditions. This article specifies no universal load, duration or cycle count.
- Normal operation: record whether operation completes and whether premature bottoming or interference occurs. Keep mechanical observations associated with the electrical state.
- Further pressing within the agreed range: observe whether the intended stop engages, whether the load-bearing parts match the drawing intent, and whether abnormal deformation, binding or contact states occur. Stop at the agreed conditions; do not extend the range during the test.
- After unloading: check mechanical return, electrical release and retention separately. Record residual displacement, loose parts, cracks or continued continuity as observations requiring project-specific assessment.
All three groups must use the same assembly datum. Retain mechanical and electrical results separately rather than combining them into “pressure resistance passed.” List unresolved clearances, tolerances, materials or stop conditions as awaiting confirmation. After a plunger, support, enclosure or fastening change, reassess which engagement relationships and sample observations need another review. Do not carry over a conclusion solely from an old photograph.
Hand over the supply scope and review record
Shenzhen Baoshengda Technology Co., Ltd.'s keypad assembly information (Chinese) calls for project-specific agreement on keys, supports, interfaces and assembly supply scope; the membrane switch information (Chinese) calls for assembly confirmation with the same-revision enclosure and PCB. The supplier inputs should identify who supplies the stops, enclosure, plungers and PCB, and who assembles and validates the complete unit. Supplying only a graphic or keypad overlay does not automatically include switch circuits or mechanical stops. A metal-dome keypad overlay used with the customer's PCB also needs the customer PCB, supports and test responsibilities listed separately.
Use the project revision review guide (Chinese) to link the assembly section, part and BOM revisions, sample identifier, actual observations and open issues. Purchasing needs the applicable conditions and supply boundaries, not just “stop added.” These public pages support project communication; they do not establish approval of a particular project's construction or tests. The English integrated keypad page provides the corresponding product enquiry route.
For detailed operating positions, see key travel and operating-position review. For complete pressing and release curves, see keypad tactile acceptance (Chinese). Those articles address measurement and feel; this article first identifies the constrained parts, directions and load-bearing relationships.
When using Baoshengda's project contact page, start with an assembly section marking movement directions, the downward endpoint and return retention, together with the use conditions already known. If the drawing does not yet show what carries further pressing load, keep that as an open review question instead of specifying “no damage under any pressing force” in the order.
