Unused instrument port: uncut graphic overlay or a separate blank?

Use the assembly drawing to choose an uncut graphic overlay or a cutout with a blank. Check bonding support for the uncut option. For a blank, agree whether it ships loose or fitted and what the first article covers.

If an instrument has provision for a port that will not be fitted in this order, have the equipment team choose the finish on the assembly drawing: a graphic overlay without a cutout, or an opening with a separate blanking part. Do not ask the supplier to decide from the instrument model alone. For an uncut overlay, check what supports it where it bonds. For an opening, specify who supplies and installs the blank. If the design is still open, request separate quotations, not a shared production release drawing.

The China Government Procurement Network published the Zhejiang University network analyzer award notice on November 6, 2026 (Chinese), listing one Ceyear 3674H system. The award identifies the equipment item. It is not an assembly drawing and does not establish the front-panel options, cutouts or component supplier. When buying parts for a different instrument under development, the OEM may use the same instrument family name, but the overlay supplier needs the configuration being built for this order.

Check which locations actually get a connector

Ceyear's 3674-series product configuration page (Chinese) lists the base instrument, hardware options, software options and standard accessories separately. The Keysight E5071C front-panel guide says that the number of test ports on that model depends on the option. The latter applies to the E5071C and does not establish the port count of the Ceyear instrument in the award. Match the option code to the actual assembly drawing: does it add a connector or only enable a software feature?

A cutout in the graphic overlay is separate from an opening in the enclosure. If the enclosure has a provision for a port, the approved assembly determines whether the overlay is cut too. Before an uncut overlay is used to cover an enclosure opening, the equipment team needs to confirm support for the bond area and how it will be serviced later. Do not leave that decision to the supplier based on a photograph. Covering the hole does not verify sealing or enclosure protection.

Quote the two ways to close the opening separately

Assembly conditionWhat to specify in the purchase order
Overlay without a cutoutIdentify the no-cutout artwork, the enclosure revision and the confirmed support for bonding. Unless agreed otherwise, do not mark the reserved position as a working port.
Cutout, with the blank shipped looseList drawing or part numbers for the overlay and blank separately, along with mating dimensions, quantities, whether they are on the same order and who installs the blank. An overlay first article does not verify the fitted blank.
Cutout, with the blank pre-installedSpecify the assembly level where the blank is installed and who supplies the matching enclosure or subassembly. Use that assembly combination to check appearance, fit and retention.
Port to be fitted laterRecord the closure selected for this order. Under an approved retrofit plan, confirm whether the overlay or blank must change and what must be rechecked. Do not sign off the future version using the first article without the port.

For order review, put the assembly revision, port option, overlay drawing and revision, and blanking responsibility on one line. Two quotes may both include a blank, but one may ship it loose while the other fits it to a specified part. That changes what receiving inspection can verify. If only the legend changes on the same outline, ask which manufacturing information can be reused. If the cutout or blanking design changes, reconfirm the affected drawings and first article instead of using an earlier approval. Once ports are fitted, see the instrument port mapping guide (Chinese) for physical labels, software aliases and cables. For receiving multiple approved variants, see incoming identification of panel spares (Chinese).

Shenzhen Baoshengda Technology Co., Ltd.'s graphic overlay and keypad overlay customization page (Chinese) lists artwork, cutouts, the enclosure and adhesive coverage as project inputs. Send the actual assembly drawing and option list through the project contact page. Mark which locations are not populated and whether blanks should be quoted separately. An overlay supplied on its own does not include switch circuitry. Connectors, blanks and complete equipment verification must be agreed separately. The cover shows holes, a window and legends on an existing white panel sample. It is not the instrument in the award notice and does not show a verified blanking design. See the English graphic overlay product page for product scope.
